I’ve had a few e-mails etc about fuel prices and that if we, the buying public, stop buying our petrol or diesel from Texaco or BP forecourts we’ll be able to force the price down.

Now this is a great theoretical idea, but…

It won’t work!

Companies like Texaco and BP don’t actually make their profits from selling fuel to us, the buying public, via their forecourts, they make it from selling the their fuel to their own, and other retailers.
An even bigger amount of profit is made from selling crude oil to refineries.
So, by all means stop buying petrol from their forecourts and you’ll just end up buying it from somewhere else. All that will happen is that there will be fewer places available to buy the stuff as the forecourts themselves go out of business and Texaco and BP won’t bat an eyelid as they barely made a profit out of the places in the first place.
If you want to lower the cost of fuel then stop buying goods made in china or any far away place.
Cripple world trade so that international shipping is decimated and then see the prices of fuel plummet as OPEC tries desperately to recoup profits.

*grin*

To be honest I've never put anything else in Godzilla, so wouldn't have a comparison. I really noticed it in the MX5 though, not only did I get about 30 miles a tank more out of it, but the performance was noticeably improved.
